What is
the auger made of on Model No. GB-9001?
FDA-approved polycarbonate and melamine, which are semi-permanent
and extremely hygienic.

What are
the gears made of on Model No. KPE-1301 (Samson Ultra™)?
The gears are made from an FDA-approved stainless steel and acetyl
resin and have a 3-way Bio Ceramic Magnetic System that helps provide
the highest quality juice, which retains its nutrient value for
up to 72 hours. The magnets in the Twin Gears work in conjunction
with the bio-ceramic particles, producing a magnetic field of 4,200
gauss.

Are the
parts for the Samson™ Gear Juicers dishwasher safe?
No, the parts for the Samson™ Gear Juicers are not dishwasher
safe.

How many
R.P.M is each model?
GB-9001: 80 R.P.M.
KPE-1301: 160 R.P.M.
Why such
low R.P.M.?
Because of the low RPM, oxidation* is kept to a minimal. The less
oxidation, the more nutritional value in the juice.
*A fully oxidized drink, such as apple juice or carrot juice will
be brown in color.

What
is the reverse function for?
Sometimes the machine may get clogged. If this happens, you must
switch the machine to "stop", then "reverse",
"stop" again, then back to "on".

What
do the different nozzle positions do on the drum cap of the GB-9001?
The Nozzle positions make the area between the drum cap and auger
tighter, so at position 3, the pulp would come out more dry and
compact due to the tight space between the drum cap and the auger.
At position 1, the nozzle would be loose and thus the space between
the drum cap and auger would be less tight and the pulp would be
looser.

My juicer
will not turn on.
The fuse may be defective. Turn the juicer over; on the bottom there
will be a black knob, which is the fuse holder. Turn the fuse holder
counter-clockwise to release it. Take out the fuse and replace it.
With your juicer you will find an extra fuse that should be affixed
to the bottom of the machine. Place the fuse in the holder and turn
it clockwise while pushing down to lock into the correct position.
I turned
the main body over and the fuse holder is inside the machine.
The fuse holder extends out of the base of the motor. If it is not
there, the holder could have fallen out during shipment. You may
need to check the box the machine was shipped in for the fuse holder.

Do I
have to cut the vegetables into fine pieces as shown in the owners
manual?
It is recommended that the vegetables are cut so they fit down the
chute easily. If vegetables can reach the auger easily, they do
not need to be cut.

Comparisons:
Are the
Samson™ Gear Juicers centrifugal or masticating?
Neither. The difference is:
Centrifugal uses a shredder disk/grater, which revolves at about
3600 RPM or faster and is usually very loud. (ACME and Omega)
Masticating chews pulp to further break
down the cell-wall structure. Then it mechanically squeezes. It
uses a slow turning powerful motor that requires physical strength
to use. (Champion)
Gear Juicers are stone-mill types that
work by the gear crushing produce into the walls (screen), which
then extract juice. It is at low R.P.M and very quiet.
What
is the advantage over centrifugal machines?
Centrifugal machines do not grind most leafy vegetables, such as
wheatgrass. The Samson Gear Juicers grind many kinds of leafy vegetables.
The Samson™ Gear Juicers are
easier to clean than the centrifugal juicers.
The Centrifugal juicers make a lot
of noise, while the Samson Gear juicers are quieter.
The centrifugal juicers destroy many
nutrients including vitamins because of the high RPM. The Samson™
Gear Juicers preserve the nutrients because of the low RPM.
Because of the low R.P.M, Samson™
Gear Juicers contain less entrapped air then a centrifugal juicer,
which gives it a longer shelf life than juice made with a centrifugal.

What
is the difference between the GB-9001 and the KPE-1301?
The KPE-1301 is a twin gear while the GB-9001 is a single gear (single
auger) type.
The GB-9001 is easier to clean and
take apart.
The KPE-1301 is more efficient in extracting
more juice. It is especially best for fruits, carrots and celery.
The KPE-1301 has a 3-Way Bio Ceramic
Magnetic System in the Twin Gears and in the juice bowl that helps
preserve essential enzymes, nutrients and flavor for up to 72 hours.
The GB-9001 does not have this system.

What
is the difference between the Samson™ and the Omega 8001?
The Omega 8001 is our old model selling under the brand name "OSCAR"
DA-502.
The Samson™ GB-9001 has 6 nozzle
positions while the Omega 8001 has only 4.
The Samson™ GB-9001 juicing screen
has a reinforced screen rib to insure a longer life than the Omega
8001 juicing screen.
The Samson™ GB-9001 auger is
better designed to extract more juice than the Omega 8001 auger.
We will continuously be upgrading our Gear Juicers.

How do
the Samson™ Gear Juicers compare with the Champion?
The Samson™ Gear Juicers are lighter* and also have convenient
handle located at the top of the machine for ease of carrying. Great
for traveling!
*Samson™ GB-9001: 14.6 lbs. Samson™ KPE-9001: 13.7lbs.
Champion: 26lbs.
The Samson™ Gear Juicers are
easier to assemble and disassemble than the Champion.
The Samson™ Gear Juicers have
a much simpler design than the Champion.
The Champion has a higher RPM, this
results in higher oxidization and more noise.
The Champion does NOT process wheatgrass
or other leafy greens. The Samson™ Gear Juicers are excellent
with wheatgrass and leafy greens.
The Champion warranty does not compare
to the Samson™ warranty. The Champion has a 5-year labor and
parts and 1-year motor warranty. The Samson™ GB-9001 has a
5-year labor and parts and 10-year motor (labor and parts) warranty;
The Samson Ultra™ KPE-1301 has a 10-year parts and labor warranty.

What
is the difference between the Samson™ Gear Juicers and blenders
like the Vita Mix?
The Samson™ Gear Juicers separate the pulp from the juice
as it falls into a separate container. From this method, the pulp
will be tightly compacted and much dryer then with most juicers
on the market. The pulp can not be mechanically separated when using
a blender. When the pulp is blended with the juice, it may contain
harmful agro-chemical residues.
Blenders are not made to process most
leafy vegetables properly. The Samson™ Gear Juicers are excellent
with leafy vegetables.
The Samson™ Gear Juicers have
a set low RPM* in order to maintain the necessary enzymes, nutrients,
and flavor. Blenders work at high speeds, which destroys necessary
enzymes, nutrients, and flavor in the process.
*Samson™ Gear Juicer, GB-9001: 80 RPM. Samson Ultra™
Twin Gear Juicer, KPE-1301: 160 RPM. Vita Prep by Vita Mix: 37,000
RPM (variable RPM 1,000-24,000).

Wheatgrass:
How can
I get more juice when juicing wheatgrass?
It is best to use wheatgrass when it is 6"- 8". When it
is shorter it will not yield a substantial amount of juice and is
not mature enough for juicing. If it is longer, it is too old and
may loose water content and/or nutrients.
How can
I reduce foam when juicing wheatgrass?
Submerge wheatgrass in cold water before juicing. Using carrot,
celery or other vegetables through the machine after juicing wheatgrass.
Also, spraying a mist of cold water on top of the foam helps it
to settle down. For the Twin Gear, try adding a few drops of flax
oil into the gears before juicing wheatgrass.
